11 Inclusions for Your Keepsake Jewelry
When you think of keepsake jewelry, breast milk might be the first thing that comes to mind. But there are so many little things we hold onto because we just can't bring ourselves to throw them away.
That first curl you saved after a haircut. A few petals from your wedding bouquet. The last bag of breast milk that's still sitting in the back of your freezer. The cap from the pregnancy test that told you your baby was on the way.
So, what can you put in keepsake jewelry? Breast milk, hair, umbilical cord, placenta, ashes, dried flowers, fabric, sand, soil, whiskers, feathers and even pregnancy test caps are just some of the inclusions we can work with.
Here are eleven things you can preserve in your keepsake.
1. Breast Milk
Breast milk is the first inclusion Mamma's Liquid Love began working with, and after more than 11 years, it's still at the heart of so many of the keepsakes we create.
You can send milk from any part of your feeding journey. It might be your last frozen bag, milk you pumped years ago, milk from more than one child, or donor milk that became an important part of your family's story.
And don't worry if you don't have much left. We only need half an ounce (15 mL) to create your keepsake.

2. Hair
A lot of moms keep a little curl from their baby's first haircut tucked away. Over the years, moms have trusted us with hair from someone they love, and even fur from the pets who became part of their family.
Depending on the design you choose, we can carefully arrange those tiny strands into a heart or even our best-selling Tree of Life, so they become part of the keepsake itself.

3. Umbilical Cord
If your baby's umbilical cord is still tucked away in a little box somewhere, you're definitely not the only one who couldn't bring herself to throw it away.
After all, it was quite literally the connection between you and your baby throughout your pregnancy. Of course something that tiny can feel impossible to part with.
We only need half the stump to preserve it inside your keepsake, so you can keep the rest safely tucked away with all the other little things you've saved from those first days.

4. Placenta
For nine months, your placenta had a pretty important job: helping nourish and support your baby as they grew.
And after doing all that work, it makes sense that some moms aren't quite ready to let the last little bit of it go. If you had yours encapsulated, you might still have a few capsules left from those early postpartum days.
You can send us a capsule for your keepsake, so a tiny part of what cared for your baby before you could hold them in your arms becomes something you can keep with you. Placenta pieces are so beautiful!

5. Ashes
When you've lost someone you love, having even a small part of them close to you can mean so much.
Over the years, we've been trusted with ashes from moms, dads, grandparents, children, partners, and beloved pets. We know that what you're sending us isn't something that can ever be replaced.
We only need 1/2 a teaspoon to create your keepsake, and we'll carefully return anything we don't use with your finished piece.

6. Dried Flowers
Some flowers are just too special to end up in the trash.
Maybe they're from your wedding bouquet, the flowers you received when your baby was born, or a few stems from an anniversary. They can be florals from a loved one’s funeral. Or maybe it's just one tiny flower your toddler picked for you on a completely ordinary afternoon and proudly handed over like it was the most beautiful flower in the world.
It doesn't have to come from a big occasion to be worth keeping.
If yours have been pressed into a book or sitting dried in a vase all this time, you can send us 2–3 small pieces to add to your keepsake. That way, you can turn a few of those petals into something you can wear while keeping the rest exactly where they've always been.

7. Fabric
Sometimes, it's not the outfit itself that you're holding onto. It's everything you remember when you see it.
It could be the tiny hospital hat your baby wore after they were born, their coming-home outfit, a piece of their baby blanket, or even the pajamas they seemed to live in when they were little. It could also be a piece of your wedding dress or something that belonged to someone you love and miss.
We only need a very small piece of fabric for your keepsake.

8. Pregnancy Test Caps
There are some moments you remember down to the tiniest detail. Seeing those two lines for the first time is usually one of them.
Maybe you stared at the test for a good five minutes just to make sure. Maybe you immediately took three more. Maybe you ran into the next room to show your partner, or kept the biggest secret of your life to yourself for a little while longer.
However it happened, that little pregnancy test was there for the moment you found out your baby was on the way.
If you still have yours, we can use a small piece of the cap in your keepsake, turning a tiny part of that day into something you can keep with you.
9. Sand or Soil
Have you ever been somewhere so special that you wanted to take a little piece of it home with you?
Maybe you scooped up some sand from the beach where you got married, or saved a little soil from a place that means something to your family. We've even had couples send us sand and soil from the exact spot where they said, “I do.”
We’ve had families send us soil from a grave site of their loved one.
We can preserve a little of it in your keepsake, so it doesn't just live in a jar on your shelf. Instead, you can carry a tiny piece of that memory with you everywhere you go.

10. Whiskers
It’s funny how finding a whisker from one of our pets on the couch where they always curl up, stuck to their favorite blanket, or even clinging to our shirt after a cuddle can feel like finding a tiny little treasure.
We pick it up, look at it for a second, and somehow throwing it away just doesn’t feel right. After all, it came from that little face we’ve kissed a thousand times.
So we tuck it somewhere safe, even if we’re not quite sure what we’ll ever do with it.
And whether you’ve saved just one whisker or collected a few over the years, we can preserve them inside your keepsake, so you finally have somewhere special for the ones you’ve been saving.

11. Feathers
If you’ve ever loved a bird, you know even the feathers they leave behind can be hard to throw away.
We find one at the bottom of their cage with the prettiest colors, or a tiny fluffy one that somehow feels too special to toss out, so we keep it.
Then we find another one. And another. Before we know it, we have a little collection tucked away somewhere safe.
Whether your bird is still happily perched beside you or those feathers have become even more precious now that they’re gone, we can preserve a small piece inside your keepsake.

Can You Put More Than One Inclusion in Keepsake Jewelry?
Absolutely. Because sometimes choosing just one is the hardest part.
Maybe you have breast milk from each of your babies and want them together in one piece. Or you want to pair your baby's hair with your breast milk, add a flower you've been saving, or bring a few different parts of your story together.
Depending on the design, we can combine inclusions within one stone or keep them separate in their own inclusion stones.

Have Something Else in Mind?
You'd be surprised how many keepsakes begin with someone asking us, “Can you put this in jewelry?”
So if you have something tucked away in a drawer, a memory box, or somewhere only you know is safe because you just couldn't bring yourself to throw it away, tell us about it.
It might be something we've worked with before. It might be something we've never been asked about. Either way, we'd love to hear the story behind it and see what's possible.
